Introduction

In Queensland, your Traffic Controller Industry Authority Card must be renewed every three (3) years. It is your responsibility to ensure that you maintain current accreditation when performing traffic controller duties. To renew your traffic controller accreditation in Queensland, you are required to demonstrate Currency of Industry Practice as a Traffic Controller and successfully complete the Transport and Main Roads (TMR) approved training program. 
 

Target Audience

The successful completion of a Transport and Main Roads (TMR) approved training course is a prerequisite for accreditation renewal in Queensland.

Course requirements:

In determining if a person is eligible to undertake the full day streamlined refresher training course, CivilEdge will require to see the following:
  • A current Queensland or interstate traffic controller authority or
  • An expired Queensland or interstate traffic controller authority, along with confirmation of practical traffic control experience based on third party reports, and evidence of any traffic control courses previously undertaken.
In addition, learners are required to:
  • Be 18 years of age or over
  • Have Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills to ACSF level 2 or above
  • Provide a valid copy of construction white card (CPCWHS1001 or equivalent)
  • Provide a complete Currency of Industry Practice Log and provide the following minimum evidence to prove that you meet the required 32 hours of actual traffic control duties in the last 12 months:
    • work dockets/SWMS, risk assessment participation or pre-start documentation
    • letter or Supervisor report from your employer detailing the type of work performed
  • Bring your own PPE (including eye protection, hearing protection, hard hat, steel capped boots, long pants and high visibility shirt / vest / jacket)

Learners who apply to the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) for a Traffic Controller Industry Authority Card after successful completion of the course will be subject to a criminal history check


PLEASE NOTE: It is a learner's responsibility to check their driver's licence status, medical fitness suitability and criminal history with TMR if they have any concerns as refund of the course fee will not be issued if TMR rejects the application.

Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) Funding

CSQ provides funding to reduce the financial obstacle to training, making upskilling an affordable option for many more individuals in the construction industry.
 

For eligible participants, CSQ funding will cover the full course fee, meaning you pay $0.

To see if you are eligible for CSQ funding, please submit an online Application Form along with all the required documentation.

We acknowledge the support of the CSQ in reducing the cost of training for eligible workers.

Learning Methods

This course is delivered face to face in a classroom and involves demonstrations, case studies, written assessment activities and simulated practical assessments to be completed through the course. 

Learners are also required to complete the Transport and Main Roads Currency of Industry Practice Log prior to attending this course as it is a requirement of the course. CivilEdge may not be able to deem learners competent if this is not completed and verified.
